Rimmel #Insta range

I tried a few products from Rimmels new #Insta range, I needed a new setting spray and was looking for another contour stick to try so picked those up, and thought I would give the #instaflawless perfecting radiating skin tint a try because, well, who doesn't want to look flawless, hey? This is what I thought of everything ...

#Insta Fix & Go 2-in 1 Primer and Setting Spray - This felt very light weight, and smells gorgeous! Kind of a cucumber smell, very fresh, which I loved. It dries VERY quickly though so I didn’t really find it that great as a base for my makeup as you don’t have enough time to smooth it over your skin before it dries. I don't like primer mists in general and prefer primers that I can work into my skin as I feel like my makeup looks much better that way. Even though I didn't like using this as a primer, I have to say it is quite a good setting spray and I did feel like my makeup lasted and looked just as good at the end of the day as when I put it on. I would recommend this, but only to set your makeup with and not as a primer.

Insta Countour Stick - This is so creamy and easy to blend! I love it and will be using it a lot from now on. The highlighter side has a very nice shimmer but does seem to disappear into the skin when blending and the highlight effect didn’t seem strong enough for me. It’s only slightly shimmery really, so I ended up going over it with one of my other highlighters. I guess you could make the highlight seem brighter if you just patted it into the skin instead of buffing it in, but this doesn’t leave a blinding highlight either way so if that’s your thing this probably isn’t for you. The dark contour side is great though, I would still recommend this as I think it’s worth a try as it might work for you.

#Instaflawless perfecting radiating skin tint – Well, with a name like that I was expecting my face to be TRANSFORMED by this ... but yeah, that didn't happen. This one was a bit of a flop for me to be honest. I actually bought this thinking it was a tinted moisturiser, but turns out it's meant to be a primer which you can also use on its own if you want to. It seems nice when you first apply it, it has a very slight shimmer to it. I got it in shade 06 – light medium, which turned out way too dark for me and made me look orangey instead of giving me a nice golden glow. It doesn’t give much coverage at all so if you have blemishes to cover, like me, you cannot wear it alone. I really didn't like this product, the consistency was off, not quite a tinted moisturiser but too thick and pigmented to be a primer. I didn't wear full foundation over it, but just covered my problem areas. I did not look glowy AT ALL! I just felt like I looked weird and greasy and it felt like it got worse through the day. If you have very clear skin and are more olive toned then this could be nice for you to wear on its own but not if you have blemishes, like most of us do, and when it's under other products it just seemed to me like it interfered with the other products I applied over it. So, I’m not a fan of this primer / skin tint at all. After looking the range up online I realised also, that the shade I bought is actually the lightest available, and there are only two shades. Which is ridiculous! So if you are fair skinned I would say don't bother with this at all.

I really wanted to love everything I picked from this range, 2 out of 3 isn't bad though. Overall, I guess this range seems a bit gimmicky, they didn't really need to bring it out except for the fact that everyone is mad about looking glam on Instagram right now and the product name would definitely catch your attention. The quality of the products is ok, but nothing special, I do really love the contour / highlight stick though. I feel like they should have just forgotten about the skin tint all together, especially as they didn't even make enough shades to cover everyone anyway and just stuck with the extras (contour, concealer, primer etc) because for me anyway, it didn't work as a primer and it doesn't have good enough coverage to be worn on its own, unless you have Disney princess skin. Anyway, Rimmel is still one of my favourites on the highstreet and I'll wait to see what their next range has to offer.
